Dear Parents and Students,
There has been a last minute adjustment to the trip, which
will affect the types of clothes in which you are planning to wear/bring.
Originally it was thought that we would go to the Kennedy Center to see Shear
Madness on Friday the trip company has changed this to Saturday. Which means
you will check out of the hotel Saturday morning around 8 am then you will go
to take pictures at the White House. So you will be walking and need to wear
relatively comfortable clothes. Next it is off to Arlington Cemetery where you
will be walking around again. After Arlington you will take the subway to
Pentagon City Mall to eat for lunch.
The problem occurs because you are leaving the hotel in the
morning to tour but you also need to see the play that night and there is not a
good place to change clothes or enough time in the schedule for every one to
change. You need to wear somewhat nice clothes during the day on Saturday. The
trip company has told me that it is okay for you to wear jeans and a sweater or
button down shirt to the play that evening and clean tennis shoes. Other school
groups have done this before. Still no sweats or flip-flops but something a
little more causal is allowed instead of true dress clothes. Then after the
show you will go to a restaurant for dinner you may use the restrooms there to
change into something to sleep on the bus for the ride home. HOWEVER note just like the first
night you will not be able to access anything in the bottom of the bus after it
is loaded in the morning at the hotel.
FOR ONLY MY WREATH LAYERS:
You need to be dressed up when you leave the hotel in the
morning. Wearing your dress clothes to lay the wreath. You will be in these
clothes until lunchtime when you will have the opportunity to change in to
something a little more comfortable in the mall Restrooms. Bring a bag to carry
with you so you can change at the mall. This bag should have everything you
need in it for the day.
I am letting you know of this change as early as possible I
just found out today. If you have any questions please contact me.
` Sincerely,
Mrs.
Schnabel
