Our 1st night in DC

Well, the bus ride was of course long.....the kids were very excited and had a hard time sleeping which is to be expected. To be honest though, no grouchy kids today! YAY! I had told them last night that they couldn't be grouchy today if they didn't sleep! They might have grouchy adults though! :-) No worries though! All was well today!

Today we saw several memorials. FDR, Martin Luther King, and then we walked by the Washington monument. Its still closed due to last year's earthquake. While we were at the Martin Luther King Memorial, a soldier was having his reenlistment ceremony there. That was a very cool thing to see.

We also went to the National Archives to see the original Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and the Constitution. They told us that no matter we heard and saw on the movie, "National Treasure", these documents never left the building!

That led us to the Holocaust Museum where we saw Daniel's Story (the Holocaust through the eyes of a child), the Capital Building and then we also sat in the House of Representatives. Amazing Day!

The kids swam after dinner and all tucked in their beds and doors are taped shut. Night! More tomorrow! Hopefully everyone will sleep well tonight!
